Object

The Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Act clearly state that the objects and approaches of the University in its first schedule. Some of Major objects are as follows.

  1. To make higher , Vocational and technical education available to large sections of the population.
  2. To give special attention to the needs of the disadvantaged group, in particular people in the rural areas and the women.
  3. To relate all courses to the developmental needs of individuals, institutions and the states.
  4. To provide innovative, flexible and open system of education by using the distance teaching methodology and by applying modern communication technologies to education.
  5. To provide continuing, adult and extension education. Special attention is to be given retraining adults in new skills to enable them to adjust to a changing technological environment
  6. To provide for post graduate studies and research opportunities in all fields of knowledge, especially in educational technology , distance education and development communication.

Aims

The aims of the M.B.A programme are

  1. To help practicing managers to become more effective decision makers in their fields by updating their knowledge and managerial skills.
  2. To enable the managers to develop their skills of critical analysis , logical thinking and creative imagination.
  3. To enable the managers to make independent judgment in the analysis and resolution of complex managerial problems.

Structure & Duration of the Programme

Minimum Duration: 2 years
Maximum Duration: 8 years

If a student is unable to complete the programme or other requirements within the maximum duration limit, he shall have to register again as a new student. Such a person shall however be eligible to course exemption. Thus, (s)he would not be required to study the courses , which have been completed earlier.

Students with higher qualifications may be able to complete the programme in less time duration than indicated above due to

  • Course Exemptions, if applicable.
  • Direct admission to higher semester due to fulfillment of eligibility criteria, if applicable.

Eligibility Criteria for Admissions and Exemptions

Admission to the M.B.A. Programme is open to all citizens of India who satisfy the following conditions:

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
OR
Professional Degree in Engineering/Technology/medicine/Architecture/law/Pharmacy
OR
Professional qualifications in Accountancy/Company secretary ship etc.
OR
A Master degree in any subject

  1. In case a candidate has completed a course from a statutory board or University which has content similar to that offered in the courses in the programme , he/she may appeal to the Director of the school for getting exemption to a course through a written application supported by necessary documents (syllabi of the courses completed by him/her). The decision of the Director of the School will be final and binding on the student in this respect.

  2. The reservation Policy for reserved category students will be as per the relevant riles of the Govt. of Maharashtra at the time of admission.

Admission Procedure

  1. The application form for admission included in this prospectus must be submitted, duly completed to the respective study center. The application form must be accompanied by attested Xerox copies of requisite documents.
  2. The candidates should collect their Hall Tickets form the Study Centers before the entrance examination will be displayed at the study centers.
  3. The Entrance Examination is compulsory for all.
    • The Hall ticket will be submitted by the student (complete in all respect) to the study center.
    • The Seat No. of the candidate for the entrance exam will be given by the study center.
  1. Admission to the M.B.A. Programme will be granted strictly on the basis of performance at the Entrance Examination.
  2. The result of the entrance examination will be announced through the study centers. The student should visit their study center for the result of Entrance Examination. The examination centers / study centers presently are at Nagpur, Amaravati, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kalyan , Pune, pPanvel (Mumbai) , Sangli, Kolhapur, Kopargaon, Shirur, Akola, Bhandup , Vikroli (E) , Sakhrale, Gadhinglaj, Nandd, Ahemadnagar & latur etc.
  3. Provision for reservation of seats for scheduled castes , scheduled tribes and other backward students is made as per Government of Maharashtra rules.
  4. A maximum of 60 student will be admitted at each study center.
  5. A study center shall be made functional only if a minimum of 20 students are enrolled.

Examination System

Examination System for this programme is designed to maintain quality standards.

Repeater students will need to pay the Examination fees depending on the number of courses he/she  wishes to appear.

Student may not be allowed to appear in End Examination without Identity Card.

Structure and Pattern

  1. Theory course

The content of the programme is divided in to a number of theory and practical courses. The theory courses are of 4 CP. Each course is having its own types of question sets depending upon the need of the aspects of individual subjects and it is mentioned in the syllabus. The duration of the examination for 4 CP shall be 180 minutes.

  1. Continuous Assessment

This will be done through P.A.tests at the study center. The center shall conduct 4 such tests for each course , which shall carry 20 marks each. The marks obtained by the students for all the P.A. tests of each course will be converted to a score out of 20.

  1. Practical Courses

Practical journal is a compulsory part of the evaluation , failing which the student would not be allowed to appear in the final examination. There will be continuous assessment of practical performed the theory courses are of 2 CP.

Library and Hostel Fee/Deposit
If Student want to use the library and / or hostel facilities of the Study Center contact the programme Coordinator. Note that the rules regarding use of library and / or hostel facilities framed by the study center will be binding on him. Student may be required to pay Separate fee and deposit, directly to the study center as per their rules.

Other Financial Conditions

  1. Every enrolled student shall have to pay both “University Programme Fee” and “Study Center Fee”.
  2. Student are requested to note following information about maximum “Study Center Fee”.
    • Study Centers are not allowed to collect more “Study Center Fee” than mentioned in prospectus.
    • The transaction with regard to the SC Fee is a bilateral affair between the student and the Study Center. The university may not normally intervene in the matter on complaints either by the study center or by student .
    • Study Centers will collect “Study Center Fee” against their  own receipt and will maintain its records of receipt.

How to pay the fees
All University programme fees and examination fee must be paid only by crossed Demand Draft (DD) of any nationalized bank, in favour of “ The Finance Officer, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik” payable at Nashik.

Entrance Exam
The Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.A. (Insurance & Banking) programmes of this university will have to appear for and show sufficient level of competence and aptitude in a common “Entrance Examination” conducted by the university.
